Situation

Surfer Paradise Surfcamp is located on an island off the coast of Chiriqui, Panama. The atmosphere is laidback and similar to that of a camp.

All persons will arrive at the airport in Panama City. We will meet you at the airport, and transport you directly to the bus station for your 5-6 hour bus trip. The bus will drop you off at a customs check point called Guabala, where our driver will meet you to transport you to the port of Yurre. Upon arrival at the port, our boat will be waiting to take you to the island which is about 5 miles offshore (unless it is after dark or the tide is too low)

Open since 1998 and located on a small private island off the coast of Panama (Central America),
it is a paradise worth discovering!

The Surfer Paradise Surf Camp is actually two islands. One being the big island and then a smaller outer island. The big island has the living accommodations. Private cabanas are located on the side of a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
There are left breaks, and right breaks. Beginner breaks, experienced breaks, and advanced surfer breaks.

If your looking for adventure, fun, and SURF, this is the place to visit !

Lodging

All of the camp rooms are tiled and have electricity. Around the camp you will find areas with hammocks and sun bathing chairs to lounge in. There are a few showers located around the camp to rinse off after a surf session.
The bedrooms are basic and usually hold two campers at a time. Upon request we will provide a room with a larger bed for couples. The floors are tiled and you will find a night stand within the room. We try and maintain a fan in every room, but most often the ocean breeze is sufficient

There are three bathrooms that contain a shower, sink and toilet. The bathrooms are tiled and cleaned regularly.

The electricity comes from solar and wind energy. Every once in awhile we will turn on a gas powered generator. The electricity to the camp is normally turned off during the day and is turned on as soon as the sun begins to set. There is usually electricity in the dining area 24/7.

The water at the camp comes from a very pristine lava rock spring. Once the water arrives at the camp, it is filtered to ensure cleanliness. If that isn't enough, there is faucet in the dining area that filters the water again.

Meal Plan

You will be served three meals per day with a variety of dishes made from fish, chicken, shrimp, tropical fruits, etc. We can accommodate vegetarian diets.
The dining area is a central location at the camp where all the campers get together to eat and socialize. The dining area contains a TV, a small library, a ping pong table and a source for filtered water.
Three meals a day are provided as part of the package. The meals are healthy and often contain an assortment of fruit.
Sodas and Beers are a dollar each and can be purchased right outside the kitchen.

Sport Services

Secluded, relaxing, warm, tropical and gorgeous are all words that describe Surfer Paradise surf camp.
Just imagine being able to surf in 80 degree water in a remote location with no pressure from other surfers. This is what we offer, a truly private learning experience where you and your friends can feel comfortable.
We are the original panama surf camp since 1998 and we know what it takes to give you the best panama surf trip possible

We limit the number of surfers in camp to 15.
There are ten different spots so choose never crowded.

Spots

Small Island, Big Kahuna Waves
The smaller island is about a 30 minute boat ride.
This is the island of the largest waves. When the waves are small everwhere else, you'll find 6-8 ft faces here on average. This is the place where you'll find the left breaks like P-Land, which is really two breaks, and Leftovers. The right break on this island is Nestles, described as the most exciting 30 seconds of your life.

Emily's is a fun point break.
Emilys is a left point break that peels and peels forever. This could be your favorite wave of the whole trip.
We
are heading to Sandbar in the Morning

When you hear this, you should start  preparing, it'll be a morning of A frame peaks going left and right. Your arms will feel like the spaghetti you ate last night, and your jaws will hurt from smiling so much.
What Else is there?

Surf Story

Hola gringo! If you pursue your surf trip that began in Mexico, went on in Nicaragua through Costa Rica, you will really have a lot of fun in Panama. Nice and Latino atmosphere. Pretty waves without too many Americans: Playa Serena, Playa Malibu, about ten kilometres from the capital near Rio Mar in the Gulf of Panama. But you can head along the coast to some remote places with no crowds.
Ten or so empty spots in some places to discover during your trip. To get used to the relaxed and original mood of South America…

History

1510 – The Spanish settled in the river’s mouth of Rio Chagres on the Caribbean coast.Panama becomes the starting point of Peru’s colonization.
At the end of the 19th century, the gold rush in California engenders the building of the railroad Colon-Panama by the United States.
1914 – Completion of the Panama Canal.
1997 – Cancelling of Panama’s army which is replaced by a civil police. Two years later, a woman Mireya Moscoso is elected President. On December 31st, the Canal returns to Panama after 85 years under North America’s domination.

Geography

Panama’s isthmus forms the umbilical cord connecting South America to Central America.
Enclosed in the West by Costa Rica, in the East by Colombia, the country is only 50 km wide.
On the contrary, its Northern coast extends 1 160km along the Caribbean Sea and its Southern coast spreads 1 690 km near the Pacific Ocean.
The famous Panama Canal crosses the territory in the middle, demarcating an East region and a West one.

Hundreds islands dot the Caribbean coast, among them San Blas and Bocas del Toro archipelagos.Yet, Coiba island and Las Perlas in the Pacific own the best scuba diving and fishing spots. Both coastal plains open out on both sides of the mountainous land which constitutes Panama’s backbone. It culminates 3 475 m with Baru (volcano).
